OUR PASTOR
“Just tell them that I’m a child of the King” says Pastor Tommy L. Davis, a native of Paterson, New Jersey who attended the infamous Eastside High School as depicted in the movie, Lean on Me. Pastor Davis is a disabled U.S. Navy veteran having served 11 years of honorable service. He is currently a retired educator and previously taught at Auburn University and Chattahoochee Valley Community College..
It was during his Navy years that he met his wife of 36 years, Rev. Veronica Davis. Their blissful marriage has produced three wonderful children, Tommy II and twins, Vaniya and Vashti. After accepting his call to preach in 1997 and serving faithfully under the leadership of Rev. Dr. L.W. Myers at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church of Opelika, Pastor Davis was called to lead New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in the Motts Community of Smiths Station, Alabama and assumed the pulpit on February 4, 2001.
Pastor Davis is a 2010 and 2013 graduate from Auburn University obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s of Education Degree in Adult Education. However, Pastor Davis says that the only degree that truly matters is his B.A. – BORN AGAIN – degree.
