New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Ministerial Staff
Since 2001, Pastor Tommy L. Davis has served as Senior Pastor of the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Motts, Alabama. He was licensed in 1997 and ordained in 2000 at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church of Opelika, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor L.W. Myers. Pastor Davis is a graduate of Auburn University where he received both a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Adult Education.
Rev. John Ashford, Jr. was licensed and ordained into the ministry under the late Pastor Jessie L. Hall at NJMBC. He serves as the ministry leader for the Seniors Ministry and teaches the weekly Senior's Bible Study class. Additionally, Rev. Ashford obtained a diploma in Biblical Studies at the American Baptist College extension center in Columbus, Georgia.
Minister Ollie Ashford preached her initial sermon in 2013 and was licensed by Pastor Davis. She is the wife of Rev. John Ashford in a marriage that has thrived over 40 years and produced numerous children. She is an advent Bible reader who is not afraid to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Minister Ann Ashford is married to Deacon Charles Ashford. She currently serves as the Women's Department worship leader at NJMBC.
Minister Lauretta Horn-Booker is a native of Mobile, Alabama. She is an Auburn University graduate and clinical mental health counselor. She was licensed to preach at NJMBC.
Minister Charity Coates preached her initial sermon on January 30, 2022. Charity is a professional social worker and received her Master's Degree from Troy University.
Rev. Veronica Davis is the First Lady of NJMBC and wife of Pastor Tommy L. Davis. Licensed by Pastor Davis, Rev. Davis entered the ministry in 2007 and has served faithfully as VBS Director, Sunday School Teacher, Women's Bible Study Teacher, and in other capacities where needed. She is an Opelika, Alabama native, mother of three, and a Financial Aid Specialist at Auburn University. Rev. Davis was ordained in 2016.
Rev. Jabari Frazier is the youngest member of the ministerial staff of NJMBC, but do not let his young age fool you. He is a seasoned man of God and an anointed worship leader and singer. Rev. Frazier was licensed by Pastor Davis and has served with the Breakfast Ministry, the Music Ministry, the Teen Ministry, and as a teacher for both VBS and Sunday School. Rev. Frazier was ordained in 2016 and is engaged to Jasmine Smith.
Rev. William Jones was licensed and ordained by Pastor Davis and currently serves within the Men's Department. He is a long-time member of NJMBC, having previously served as a trustee and a deacon. Additionally, Rev. Jones retired from Continental Carbon after more than 25 years of service. Rev. Jones is married to Mrs. Vickie Jones. He received a certificate in biblical studies from Selma University Extension Center.
Rev. Barbara Smith is currently the Rainbow Missionary Ministry Leader and the Advisor of the Youth Ushers Ministry. She accepted her calling to preach the Gospel and was licensed in 2008 by Pastor Davis. Additionally, she is the wife of Deacon Bell Smith in a union that has produced three children during their 30+ years of marriage. Further, Rev. Smith is a full-time employee with the Lee County School District. Rev. Smith was ordained in 2016.
